The Cummins air intake ( grid ) heater , is in a square block about 2 1/4" high sandwiched between the air tubing from the CAC ( Charge Air Cooler ) and the intake manifold . There are two studs on the heater , power and ground . Think of the heater as a 12 volt toaster element to warm the combustion air in the intake manifold .
